SMART
The SMART project aims to enable universities in Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro to strengthen their role as knowledge brokers and actively contribute to the regional innovation landscape. In order to successfully overcome the existing discrepancy between higher education and labor market requirements, the following objectives are envisaged:
- Promoting smart specialization and innovation: introducing and integrating new learning modules and innovative teaching approaches (such as online teaching, interdisciplinary learning and virtual mobility) into university curricula to address the current challenges in the field of smart specialization.
- Professional development of university staff: promoting skills in innovation and entrepreneurship as well as hybrid and online teaching practices.
- Establishment of SMART Innovation Centers: Establishment of seven innovation centers at universities and their integration into the existing university structure.
- Sustainable cooperation between universities and industry: Establishment of the SMART Knowledge Exchange Network to promote cooperation.
- Promoting internships and mobility: facilitating work placements and virtual mobility for students and staff.
These measures are intended to strengthen the universities in their function as knowledge brokers and promote their active participation in the regional innovation landscape. The project also provides for the training of 84 employees and 210 ambassadors for smart specialization, i.e. the involvement of over 250 stakeholders in the network.
