SMART

The SMART Project aims to empower universities in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to strengthen their role as knowledge brokers and actively contribute to the regional innovation landscape. To successfully bridge the existing gap between higher education and labor market demands, the following objectives have been set:

Promoting smart specializations and innovation: Introducing and integrating new learning modules and innovative teaching approaches (such as online teaching, interdisciplinary learning, and virtual mobility) into university curricula to address current challenges in the area of smart specialization.
Professional development of higher education staff: Promoting competencies in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as hybrid and online teaching practices.
Establishment of SMART Innovation Centers: Setting up seven innovation centers at universities and integrating them into the existing university structure.
Sustainable cooperation between higher education institutions and industry: Establishing the SMART Knowledge Exchange Network to promote collaboration.
Promotion of internships and mobility: Facilitating work placements and virtual mobility for students and staff.

These measures are intended to strengthen universities in their role as knowledge brokers and promote their active participation in the regional innovation landscape. The project also plans to train 84 staff members and 210 ambassadors for smart specialization, thereby involving a total of over 250 stakeholders in the network.
