This project is based in two exemplary areas: the urban area of Dresden and the rural area of Weißwasser and its surroundings. The project involves interacting with people in everyday spaces. In each location, a POP-UP KNOWLEDGE store has been set up, which serves as a meeting space and hosts workshops, experimental labs and exhibitions. Additionally, existing public cultural institutions such as museums and libraries develop various participation formats in their spaces as a way to raise awareness of the project. These are supplemented by other activities for the public to get involved in – at hockey stadiums, city festivals, associations and shopping areas. This project uses participatory events to bring science to places where people interact and thus create trust between the public and scientific institutions. We share ideas from research with the public and are always open to implement the ideas shared with us into research.
