Upper Lusatia is currently undergoing structural change in its economy, accompanied by demographic change and the shortage of skilled workers this brings. To overcome and manage these transformation processes, it is critical to prepare the upcoming generations for current and future challenges. Along with formal school education, extracurricular education can play a significant role in this. The ZukLOS project endeavors to lay the foundations for the continued development of the extracurricular education landscape in Upper Lusatia – especially in STEM subjects. The project aims to identify the current extracurricular STEM education opportunities in the region to derive recommendations on how to develop the educational landscape as well as to create and promote new educational opportunities. In so doing, the project will promote the long-term development of STEM problem-solving skills in children and young people.
