AKKA Technologies aims for cooperation with TU Dresden
AKKA Technologies is an engineering and technology consulting company founded in 1984 and operating worldwide. With over 20,000 employees worldwide, half of them in Germany and France, AKKA is the leading European provider of engineering consulting and R&D services for the mobility industry. As an innovation accelerator, AKKA supports leading industrial companies from the automotive, aviation, railway and life sciences industries over the entire life cycle of their products using state-of-the-art digital technologies. "We see ourselves as a full-service provider. However, the focus is on development services, primarily for our customers in the automotive industry. We offer a wide range of services, from design topics to software development," explains Tino Glatzel, Department Director New Mobility & Powertrain. AKKA has been supporting a project for autonomous driving at Volkswagen for two years and is involved in project management and the development of the software code. The "Parkhauspilot" project enables car drivers to drive their vehicle into a multi-storey car park using an app, park it and then drive it out again.
In the coming years, the topics of development services and digitization will increase strongly, according to AKKA's forecast. Here, AKKA is also focusing on the new federal states, where the company has only been operating sporadically so far: "Starting in November, there will be an academy in Magdeburg and Leipzig offering a one-year trainee programme for university graduates of MINT courses. The program is primarily dedicated to digital topics such as software development and data analysis, where participants can set their own priorities," says Tino Glatzel. A further location in Dresden is also planned in the medium term. In Geneva, a trainee programme is already underway which is very popular. In the future, the aim is to be able to work on topics decentrally for customers without AKKA employees having to leave their home country. Among the most important customers are the VW group, BMW, Daimler, Bombardier, Bosch and Airbus. When setting up the trainee program, the company also relies on cooperation with universities in the new federal states: "TU Dresden enjoys an excellent reputation and stands out as one of the best universities in Germany. We look forward to working together on exciting projects in the future, we feel that the Transfer Office will provide us with comprehensive support, and we see the TU as an important network partner in the scientific world," emphasizes Tino Glatzel. The Transfer Office is currently conducting initial discussions with the Career Service and exploring opportunities for cooperation with AKKA. Recruiting, research projects and contract research are conceivable cooperation possibilities in which students and professors are also to be involved.
