Dresden Transfer Bulletin: Materials for the Future
Prof. Dr. Hubert Jäger, speaker of the board of the TU Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology, assesses that Dresden is in a leading position in Germany, with its unique research and development landscape and the international cooperation in the subject area of new materials in modern lightweight engineering. The researchers at the "Lightweight Engineering Campus" put the focus on the transfer of the research results to the industrial application.
In this issue, the "lightweight engineering experts" present not only "intelligent, thinking" leaf springs for small vans, havy-duty chassis structures in a multi-material-design, but also innovative concepts for the industrial frame production of E-Bikes. "After the Materialsweek ist before the Materialsweek", the united experts of the Materials Resaerch Network Dresden concur. They bundle material competence and cutting-edge research, create synergies in the pan-institutional cooperation and prepare their newest resaerch results for the transfer to the practical application.
The start-up community in and around Dresden is inspired by the topic of materials: Start-ups such as ScIdre, Biconnex or ProNT provide the reader with a fscinating insight into their high-technology workshops. Classical and welltried materials such as concrete and wood are versatile in conjunction with other materials and prove to be truly high-powered talents.
