Review and Outlook - End of the Year at the ZfI
With this last news article in 2019, we at the Centre for Integration Studies (ZfI) would like to say goodbye to this year. A year that has clearly shown us the relevance of integration and transformation: Not only the elections in three East German federal states, but also the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall initiated many debates on the relationship between the West and the East in Germany. In view of this anniversary, the ZfI has participated in conferences and events to illuminate and discuss the contradictions of the transformations for the East German migration society. Another highlight this year was the event celebrating our third anniversary, where we had a controversial discussion on the concept of integration with Petra Köpping, Max Czollek and Aladin El-Mafaalani. You can find our event archive here.
It has been an exciting 2019 and on behalf of the ZfI I wish everyone a peaceful end to this year to start the new year on a high note!

For the coming holidays and the start of the new decade, we would like to share the latest publications with you:
In the anthology Taboo and Transgression, the editors Dr. Mi-Cha Flubacher and Prof. Dr. Sara Hägi-Mead bring together contributions on transdisciplinary perspectives on migration, integration and diversity. The publication appears as the first volume of the new series Theoretische Beiträge des Zentrums für Integrationsstudien and is available here.
In the newly emerging series integrations.studien, the ZfI publishes outstanding qualifying papers. The series is funded by the Gesellschaft von Freunden und Förderern der TU Dresden e.V.. The first volume is the master's thesis by Chris D. Branß on transnationality and social capital, which is a contribution to the integration debate in politics and research. The publication will be available here from the beginning of January.
An overview of the other publications can be found on this page.
From 23 December 2019, the TU Dresden will be in a period of rest. You will reach us again from 06 January 2020 at the latest.
