"It's all about the children!" ...
Erich Kästner has the main characters in his anti-war novel "The Animals' Conference" write on the banners to express the fact that the future belongs to the children. This outlines a social task that is vital for survival. But education - as well as educational science - is not limited to school buildings and children. The diversity of our three Institutes with their two dozen Chairs makes it clear that we are concerned with much more than schools in the narrower sense: our focus is on the entire lifespan and on many different spheres of life: school and leisure, early childhood education, continuing education, vocational training, knowledge management, care, media research, intercultural aspects, health promotion ...
Educational science as a modern social science ...
describe the theory and practice of learning processes in an analytical, systematic and evidence-based way. In addition to this reflective function, the educational sciences also have an action orientation in order to translate pedagogical questions of a changing society into practical recommendations for professional action.
Consequently, the Educational Sciences find their academic home alongside the other disciplines of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at TU Dresden. There are also very close relationships with the technical and natural sciences departments at the university, not least because students on the various teacher training courses attend specialist courses in other faculties.
Organization and structures ...
The work of the professors and Research Associates is supported administratively by the Dean's Office. The Dean's Office coordinates, for example, personnel matters, the distribution of funds and the organization of studies. The Dean's Office is the interface to the university administration and the interested public. In addition to administrative tasks, strategic issues relating to the further development and professionalization of work are conceived in the Dean's Office and prepared for the faculty committees.
