CONTESSA: Contemporary Teaching Skills for South Asia
CONTESSA provides a variety of professional development skills for effective teaching. Teachers need to be competent in not only basic skills, but contemporary skill sets. CONTESSA has an impact on the way teacher trainers teach their student teachers and consequently on the way teachers teach their students in schools.
The overall aim of CONTESSA consists of the development of a continuum of teacher education to equip teachers with the skills needed for 21st century by achieving the following:
- Improving teaching skills of teacher educators
- Improving pedagogic competences of student teachers
- Improving teaching skills of in-service teachers
About CONTESSA
- Delivering a ‘step-change’ in the development of critical skills, knowledge and competencies to provide the foundations for participation in work and society.
- Improving the transition of learners at critical stages in the education and training system.
- Increasing the use of ICT in teaching and learning as flexible learning paths for individual development.
- Improving the learning experience and the success of learners: Increase the quality of early years to deliver a better learning experience for young children.
- Improving the progress of learners at risk of educational disadvantage or learners with special educational needs.
- Improving the progress of learners with migration backgrounds.
