Interdisciplinary Workshop "Information Quality and Trust" with TU Dresden Fellow Lance Bennett
On June 12 and 13, a workshop on "Information Quality and Trust" will take place at the COSMO Wissenschaftsforum in Dresden. The closed workshop is organized together with TU Dresden Fellow Lance Bennett as part of the research project "Digital disruption and disinformation: challenges to institutional legitimacy and trustworthiness (DiDis)" (Lead: Prof. Dr. Gerhard Fettweis, Mobile Communications Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Marianne Kneuer, Political Science).
The value of correct and high-quality information takes on new importance in the face of disinformation, manipulation of facts and falsification of words and images (deep fakes). The workshop will address problems in the relationship between trustworthiness and information quality. The question is: How do the quality of information and the trustworthiness of information in a digital public sphere relate to each other? And how are they affected by the specific logics of the digital communication sphere? The workshop will examine these questions from a multidisciplinary perspective with scholars from social sciences and humanities (political science, communication science, sociology, linguistics, philosophy) as well as technical disciplines (communications engineering, computer science).
