QuaBIS "Qualification of Education and Inclusion Experts"
Since May 2019, there have been education and inclusion experts at the TUD. At the beginning, we were called education specialists, but we have changed our name.
QuaBIS means "Qualification of Education and Inclusion Officers in Saxony" and is an acronym in German.
In the QuaBIS project, people with experience of disability work from Monday to Friday. We do a kind of training at the TUD and learn how to combine our knowledge with topics that are important, for example, for teacher education.
We learn and work at the same time. The project also exists in Leipzig. What is special about this project is that we are part of the university. We are part of committees, do research and design our own seminars.
In this way, we influence knowledge and help the TUD to implement the requirements of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Our work shows that inclusion is necessary everywhere and how it can work. Not only at university and not only for disabled people. For this to happen, a lot has to change. Change comes about by asking questions. The answers are found by looking for solutions together.
Our project wants to change the conditions together with others so that everyone can participate and without disadvantages for other people.
