Research and cooperation partners of the Chair of Ancient History
Both in research and teaching, the Chair of Ancient History benefits time and again from cooperation with other chairs, institutes and faculties, as was the case, for example, with the Collaborative Research Centers 537 and 804, but also from cooperation with TU external partners such as the Dresden Coin Cabinet of the Saxon Art Collection Dresden or the Liechtenstein State Museum.
Greek and Roman cultures and their contacts with other cultures are researched and taught, with research in Dresden currently focusing on the following areas: State formation in archaic Greece, ideas of security in the Greek and Roman world, the stamping of Roman republican coins, ancient constitutional history, rules and norms of the Roman Republic, ideas of public spirit in Roman antiquity, the people and their assemblies in the middle and late Roman Republic, cults in Rome and Italy, romanization in northern Spain, the monarchy of Augustus and the early principate, slavery in late antiquity, empire and monasticism in late antiquity.
