Consulting at JoDDiD
means working with people in the field to explore a wide range of possibilities for democratic educational processes. The JoDDiD team brings its full diversity of perspectives to bear on these processes. We are: educators, consultants, researchers, theater makers, musicians, politicians, artists, teachers, photographers, etc.
We provide new inspiration for programs and educational concepts. JoDDiD serves as an expert in the field of political education and identifies ways to address these and other questions: How do I teach political topics? How do I design democratic education? How does democratic learning work?
Advice on Project Proposals
Through its “EINFACH GUT GEMACHT” initiative, JoDDiD offers an overview of exemplary projects to inspire your own project.
JoDDiD examines how principles of political education—such as the Beutelsbach Consensus—as well as scholarly discourses and recommendations, are incorporated into grant proposal descriptions. It helps refine the content of proposals and review objective descriptions and indicators for measuring goal achievement.
JoDDiD draws attention to areas that have received (too) little attention in political education programs to date, including place-based approaches to political education and interdisciplinary educational collaborations (theater, visual arts, music, sports, etc.).
Consultation on Concepts and Materials
JoDDiD works with project stakeholders to examine educational programs and materials through the lens of “political didactics.” Depending on the need, JoDDiD has other “lenses” in its toolkit, such as those focused on inclusion, anti-racism, sensitivity to discrimination, language sensitivity, theory, etc.
JoDDiD draws attention to scientific research findings and theories on political didactics, (political) education, democracy, learning, etc., and translates theory into practical application.
JoDDiD tests educational materials and provides expert feedback during consultation processes.
JoDDiD provides feedback on didactic and methodological planning or develops new implementation ideas through joint brainstorming sessions with project stakeholders.
JoDDiD supports teams by facilitating their conceptualization processes.
Consultation on Professions, Individuals, and Publications
JoDDiD identifies who else—besides JoDDiD itself—can provide advice on the inquiry. A diversity of perspectives is important to us. It provides recommendations for advisors in the fields of political education, academia, and research, and facilitates contacts with stakeholders in extracurricular and non-formal political youth and adult education. JoDDiD recommends literature, materials, and studies on topics related to political education
How does counseling at JoDDiD work in practice?
Together, we clarify what specifically needs to be addressed, what a practical consultation process looks like for everyone, and when the consultation can be considered successful and concluded. JoDDiD offers various in-person and digital consultation formats. We see ourselves as learners, which is why JoDDiD counseling is based on a trusting, collegial collaboration characterized by a high tolerance for mistakes and openness in our shared dialogue.
True to John Dewey’s philosophy: “learning by doing.”
