Transfer
JoDDiD sees itself as a bridge between research and practice. It aims to foster dialogue between research in subject-specific pedagogy and out-of-school political youth and adult education. This means that through this website, JoDDiD not only shares its own research findings but also provides access to research results, key texts, and debates in subject-specific pedagogy. These are presented in a way that makes them quick and easy to understand for those active in the field of political education (who have better things to do than wade through research reports).
Research Dossiers
One format we’re currently developing is titled “Research Dossiers.” It is intended to summarize studies and evaluation findings relevant to out-of-school political education in a clear and accessible way. Based on our work over the past few years, we have compiled short research dossiers that aim to do no more—and no less—than provide anyone interested with an introduction to the respective topic.
JoDDiD Podcast
One of our most important knowledge transfer formats is the JoDDiD Podcast. Here, we bridge the gap between political education research and practice. Research Associates from the JoDDiD team adopt a political education perspective in this podcast format and pose questions to experts. Our goal is to facilitate knowledge transfer that encompasses both scholarship and practice. This means that this format is designed to present studies, concepts, and theories, but also to feature engaging practical reports and case discussions. The JoDDiD podcast is not just about presenting information—it’s primarily about discussing and reflecting on ideas together! We’ll be formulating insights, tasks, and questions for the field of political youth and adult education in Saxony.
JoDDiD Mini-Reports
The JoDDiD Mini-Reports. The idea behind them is to take you along to a wide variety of events in diverse situations so that you can gain situational insights into the practice and scholarship of political education.
JoDDiD Read-Aloud Format
Another format is called “JoDDiD Reads.” In this format, we present texts that are important to our work in audio form, because not everyone has the desire or time to study specialized texts. As audio pieces, the texts make great companions for your commute to work or—even better—for the hammock.
JoDDiD on Social Media
JoDDiD shares, comments, and debates on social media. We’re on Instagram and LinkedIn. Follow us and feel free to join the conversation!
JoDDiD Meets the Police
Last year, our Research Associate Tina Hölzel completed an internship at the Police Academy in Schneeberg. As part of this, she provided academic advice and support during the revision of the training curricula for social studies and professional ethics. This has now led to a long-term partnership with the Saxon police. You can find all the details about the partnership here.
Other Outreach Activities
At JoDDiD, virtually everything we do is considered knowledge transfer. This includes the Idea Pool, the JoDDiD Shop, and our consulting services. These initiatives aim to inspire a fresh and different approach to political education programs and provide concrete tools to put those ideas into practice.
