#25 Political education on the playground
Keeping your distance is an important way to protect yourself from getting Covid. But being wrapping up nicely and meeting people outside is another. Location-based political education programs that even work without an on-site instructor are at the heart of our current idea.
Compliance with hygiene measures has of course also changed extracurricular political education programs. So how about people meeting up on the playground - whether they know each other or not? The seesaw is a great place to keep your distance! What's more, the seesaw connects two people directly with each other. Without the physical impulses of the other person, it wouldn't work.
The idea: two people meet at a seesaw of their choice with a list of discussion questions. The list is made accessible via a QR code so that it can be accessed directly on site. A comment column is also conceivable so that the participants can add questions for the next ones. The bobbing people playfully get into conversation about socially controversial issues. For the time being, they have to answer YES (up) or NO (down). After each question, people can of course exchange views, explain and ask questions. You can answer as many questions as you like from a collection of questions. It doesn't matter whether you still haven't had enough after many questions in quick succession or whether you spend half an hour discussing the first question... anything is possible.
Our first suggestion for a question pool:
Would you like to have a different job for a week?
Would you like to be a millionaire?
Would you like to live in a different century or decade?
Do you think it's okay that some professions can only be practiced with vocational training?
Do you think it's okay that social professions tend to be less well paid than others?
Do you think it's okay that housework and taking care of a child are not paid?
Do you think it's okay to eat animals?
Do you think it's okay to keep animals as pets?
Can you dance politics?
Can you eat politics?
Can politics be done alone?
We also find a political campaign from 2019, in which seesaws also played a major role, interesting. You can read about it here.
