Political education thrives on ideas. It must constantly reinvent itself, be vivid and low-threshold if it wants to reach new people - attractively and entertainingly. We want to help make this happen. In our innovation workshop, we identify gaps in common formats, materials and methods of political education and produce new, low-threshold and specifically spatial concepts and materials, both in digital and analog form.

Do you need a new perspective? Political education is work on democracy and is always a challenging task. Many things have to be taken into account at the same time: the prior experiences and interests of the addressees, the goals of the measures and offers, the shoals of the subject matter and the political situation. In its consulting workshop, the research center offers didactic advice for extracurricular political youth and adult education. It supports sponsors in the didactic reflection of ongoing projects and plans, but above all in the early phases of the conception and planning of projects and plans.

Many different people work in the field of extracurricular political youth and adult education. Many have a background in social or cultural studies, some in (social) education. The John Dewey Research Center for the Didactics of Democracy offers training and further education events for those involved in extracurricular political youth and adult education in an educational and advisory workshop based on its findings. These courses focus on the question of how political education can succeed.

Research at the John Dewey Research Center for the Didactics of Democracy is essentially focused on the question of how people can further develop their ability to make political judgments and take action. It therefore conducts research on all questions relating to the didactics of civic education, but in this context it focuses on the monitoring, evaluation and support of projects, plans and sponsors in the federal state of Saxony.

JoDDiD not only conducts research, it also identifies gaps and gaps in common formats, materials and methods of political education and produces new, low-threshold and specifically spatial concepts and materials in its innovation laboratory, both in digital and analog form. It tests these and passes on the experience and materials to the providers. The research center's innovation lab is also a place for third parties to visit in order to develop, discuss and test new ideas, formats, materials and digital concepts through dialogue.

JoDDiD sees itself as a link between research and practice. It not only makes its own research results available on this website, but also provides access to research findings from other contexts. These are prepared in such a way that they can be quickly and easily understood by those active in the field of political education (who have better things to do than bite through research reports).
