New anthology from the Crisis-Diaog-Future project on failed civil dialogues
"Bürgerdialoge in Zeiten der Krise. Ethnomethodlogische Fallstudien aus Sachsen" (Citizens' Dialogues in Times of Crisis. Ethnomethodological Case Studies from Saxony) is the title of a new anthology, edited by Dr. Cathleen Bochmann, which is dedicated to the analysis of failed participation formats. The chapters come from staff and students of the TU Dresden as well as practitioners.
Content text:
"Democracy needs dispute. Dispute needs venues. Alongside parliaments and the media, dialogue formats in which citizens enter into direct exchange with actors in the political system are an important pillar of a pluralistic society struggling for the common good. In recent years, a variety of new formats of exchange between politics and society have been developed in Saxony, not least under the impressions of the migration events of 2015 and the Corona pandemic, as well as the social protest movements that emerged in this context. In these citizens' dialogues, as in all processes of dispute, it is a question of who can assert themselves against whom and by what means. Analysing precisely this is the focus of this book, using the example of Saxony."
The book is published by Springer-Verlag and is available both as an e-book and as a softcover.
