Not just "Something to do with media..."
The Chair of Modern German Literature and Media Culture Studies is interested in issues at the intersection of media and cultural theory, aesthetics and (cultural) narratology. It researches the political and emotional dimensions of literature, film and TV series, deals with popular cultural phenomena as well as 'high culture' and assumes that its subjects can only be comprehensively understood if they are historically classified and discursively contextualized.
Culture - Theory - Diagnosis
The Chair of Media Studies and Modern German Literature is interested in issues at the intersection of media and cultural theory, aesthetics and (cultural) narratology. It researches the political and emotional dimensions of literature, film and TV series, deals with popular cultural phenomena as well as 'high culture' and assumes that its subjects can only be comprehensively understood if they are historically classified and discursively contextualized.
The Chair's program includes thematic multiperspectivity and a high degree of interdisciplinarity, which is reflected in the diverse and motivated research fields of its staff: Under the academic direction of Prof. Dr. Lars Koch, the Chair employs a total of eight research associates from various research contexts. While their approaches are united by the question of aesthetics, theory and the social function of their subjects, the Chair's academic profile is defined by the breadth of its subjects and perspectives.
