Guidelines for scientific work at the Institute
The guidelines are intended to provide students with an initial orientation with regard to the formalities of written work and to prevent constant queries. For special requirements or further information on academic work, the respective guidelines/information provided by the Chairs are also relevant.
Information on examinations in German didactics:
The questions for all examinations must always be discussed individually with the lecturer.
- All examinations must meet the requirements and rules of academic work.This means
- reviewing the research literature relevant to the research question (see the respective notes on the literature basis)
- reflective presentation related to the research question - not just a paraphrase of the received texts (the independent argumentative performance must be recognizable)
- comprehensive and correct references (see formal notes)
- stringent argumentation and reader guidance ("red thread")
- When explaining the topic or question, a reference to the seminar context should be established and the motivation for working on the question explained.

- Note on linguistic correctness and the consequences for grading: If there are more than two spelling and/or grammatical errors per page on 5 pages, the paper will be graded as failed ("5.0").
- Length: 6-8 pages
- Literature basis: In any case, the literature discussed in the seminar and recommended by the lecturer must be included; further literature must be researched by arrangement.
- All further arrangements are to be made with the lecturer.
- Length: 12-14 pages
- Literature basis: In addition to the literature discussed in the seminar, you must conduct independent research on the chosen topic. In doing so, you must pay particular attention to the current research literature.

- If you would like to write your thesis in the subject didactics of German, contact a lecturer who is authorized to conduct examinations via the consultation hours and discuss initial topic suggestions that you will prepare.
- Following the joint narrowing down and specification of the topic, you will write a three-page synopsis explaining the objectives, content and methods.
You will also need to find a second assessor.
- Comprehensive research and review of the research literature on the subject area
- Based on the state of research and discussion, formulation of key questions for the work, which are then also explained in the introduction
- Justification of the approach of the study
- Presentation of the research findings and discourses focused on the research question of the paper

- Independent reflection on the research approaches and positions presented
- Proof of a linguistically or literary-scientifically sound examination of the chosen objects/phenomena
- Differentiated and reflected presentation of own and/or others' didactic considerations/suggestions
- Reflection on the scope and normativity of your own statements

Submission deadlines for written examinations
The written examinations for the didactic specialization modules must be submitted by 15.09. (for the summer semester) or by 15.03. (for the winter semester).
The cover sheet must be designed according to the example.
