Communication pedagogy for the teaching profession

General information
All student teachers receive 2 SWS (usually one double lesson per week) of instruction in the subject "Fundamentals of Speaking" for one semester.
It is advisable to take the course in the 3rd or 4th semester, or if the voice has already been experienced as a "tool" in teaching in practical courses.
In order to prepare themselves vocally, technically and rhetorically for the speech-intensive profession, students train their voice and speaking style in this practice-oriented course and learn a physiological breathing, voice and speaking technique.
Students test and reflect on their verbal and non-verbal communication style by means of exercises in a targeted manner and the use of audio and video feedback.
To ensure that individual feedback can also be given, the courses are planned with approx. 15 participants.
Course content
The focus of the joint work is, for example
- correct and economical breathing
- Individual speaking pitch, power voice and vocal resonance
- Body language and optimal use of the body when speaking
- Vocal relaxation and vocal hygiene
- Loosening and training the articulation muscles
- Clear and standard pronunciation
- Appropriate modulation and speaking speed
- Rhetorical devices
- Lively and authentic presentation
