    Since 2009, the Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO ) has been appointing young people from Germany and France between the ages of 18 and 30 as Junior Ambassadors once a year for 12 months.
    Whether you are a pupil, student, trainee, jobseeker or young professional, the network is just right for you! Apply now to get involved for peace in Europe and support young people on the run! You can find all detailed information on the DFJW/OFAJ website.
    The ambassadors work on a voluntary basis. They represent the FGYO/OFAJ at a local level and inform young people about the programs. They also design innovative projects themselves and try to involve young people and encourage them to implement their own project ideas.

Interesting links - Stays abroad

The FGYO provides a scholarship to support compulsory internships in France that are recognized or at least strongly recommended by the German home university as part of the course of study. Students of all Departments under the age of 31 can be supported for an internship lasting between 1 and 3 months. As a student with permanent residence in Germany, you can apply for this scholarship for an internship at any time.

The scholarship can be combined with an internship allowance or another scholarship (except for financial aid from the DAAD or the DFH). At the end of the internship, interns are required to submit a 5-page internship report in French or German.

As part of the "Diversity and Participation" strategy, the scholarship is only granted to participants who would not be able to complete an internship in the partner country without the support of the FGYO. The declaration for young people with special needs (on the third page of the application form) is therefore required for the processing of the application.

The PRAXES program is aimed at young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 who live in Germany and would like to complete a voluntary internship abroad in France, regardless of their training or employment.

Not only will you get to know everyday working life in another country and discover new cultural and lifestyle habits, but you will also expand your professional, social and personal skills. In this way, you can enhance your CV and improve your French language skills at the same time.

The one to six-month internship in France is chosen by the participants themselves. You can find current internship offers on the PRAXES job board, for example. The FGYO issues the convention de stage (internship agreement) required for internships in France. In addition, educational support is provided throughout the duration of the internship, e.g. in the form of telephone conversations and self-assessment questionnaires.

The FGYO covers the costs of additional insurance for the duration of the internship. This consists of travel health insurance, accident insurance and liability insurance (see "Additional information"). Please contact your insurance company before the start of your internship to find out which insurance cover is necessary and eligible for you during your stay abroad (European health insurance card required for participation in the PRAXES program).

It is also possible to combine the Praxes internship with the Parkur platform or the job/internship program in the partner city .

In the international exchange of foreign language assistants (FSA), students work in foreign language lessons at a foreign educational institution.
They gain an insight into the education system of the host country and the teaching methods used there. At the same time, the FSAs expand their linguistic and methodological-didactic skills during this practical phase. The program provides prospective teachers with intensive language and methodological-didactic training. At the host institutions, they enrich and enliven the lessons as young, motivated native speakers with a good knowledge of the country.

The International Association for Québec Studies supports higher education institutions dedicated to Québec studies in participating in and organizing academic events by providing them with logistical and financial support while giving them privileged access to an interdisciplinary international community. Its aim is to contribute to a greater awareness and understanding of Québec at the international level.

Franco-German doctoralstudent college "Thinking differences - practices, narratives, media" / Collège doctoral franco-allemand "Construire les différences - pratiques, récits, médias" (2020-2023)

The Franco-German doctoral college "Thinking Differences: Practices, Narratives, Media" (" Construire les différences: pratiques, récits, médias ") is the result of a partnership between the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociale (EHESS) in Paris, the Humboldt-Universität (HU) zu Berlin, the Technische Universität (TU) Dresden and the Université Cadi Ayyad in Marrakesh (UCA). Doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences are accepted, who are given the opportunity to take part in a structured professional, intercultural, cross-border and bilingual exchange within the framework of the program. In particular, comparative work based on the academic approach of the "histoire croisée" is supported. The research training group focuses on the interweaving of the various humanities and social science disciplines with their respective academic traditions and methodological approaches. The Franco-German Doctoral College is funded by the Franco-German University in Saarbrücken in its current funding period from 01.01.2020 to 31.12.2023.

The DFDK will continue to be funded by the Franco-German University from 2024 to 2027 under the heading "Denken Unterschiede V: Wissenschaft, Öffentlichkeit, Politik / Construire les différences V : Science, sphère publique, politique".

As a cultural and social science research and documentation center, the dfi performs a number of important tasks in the field of France-oriented research. The dfi's France Library, founded in 1990, offers ideal working and documentation opportunities in this context.

The dfi is particularly interested in making its own research and documentation potential available to all interested academics. Above all, qualified, France-related work by younger academics is to be promoted.

For this reason, the Institute (with financial support from the Wüstenrot Stiftung Deutscher Eigenheimverein e.V.) has set up a program to promote young researchers (undergraduate and doctoral students) in the field of cultural and social science research on France, comparative country research or Franco-German relations. It supports research stays at the Franco-German Institute.

The historians at the DHIP conduct research on topics of Western European history from late antiquity to the present day. They organize events and publish articles and monographs. In several basic research projects, important sources are catalogued, edited and made available in databases.

The DHIP publishes research findings and maintains a multilingual specialist academic library. In addition, the DHIP organizes lecture series, conferences, seminars and workshops in order to bring scholars with different horizons into dialogue and to address current issues in the humanities.

As an institution dedicated to research and the training of early-career researchers, the Centre Marc Bloch is characterized by its interdisciplinary nature and its Franco-German character. Interdisciplinary exchange is an essential component of all projects, research axes and research groups at the Center, in which the various disciplines of the humanities and social sciences are represented.

The Franco-German orientation forms the basis for cooperation with other countries, especially in Central and Eastern Europe, and is also reflected in the selection of researchers and doctoral students, in the working methods of the research groups and in the Centre's projects, as well as in the organization of conferences and lectures that regularly bring together German and French partners.

As a first-rate hub for networking between universities, research institutions and academics, the Centre Marc Bloch also acts as an important mediator between France and Germany.

The research grant program aims to encourage and support scholarly work in the humanities and social sciences related to Quebec's documentary heritage; topics related to the mandates of the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ); metadata on BAnQ documents and data generated by BAnQ activities.

The Gesellschaft für Kanada-Studien in den deutschsprachigen Ländern e.V. (GKS) is a non-profit association with currently 506 members (as of Feb. 2017). It primarily coordinates Canada-related academic activities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The objectives of the GKS are anchored in its statutes and are realized through a number of activities, such as the promotion and support of Canadian studies in the broadest sense; multi- and interdisciplinary cooperation in a national and international framework; deepening scientific and cultural relations between Canada and the German-speaking countries
