AQua Courses offered winter semester 2024/2025
For a meaningful use of the AQua area, we recommend visiting the respective academic advisor and reading the FAQ pages.
The courses listed below are open to all Bachelor's students on the Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies degree program (from the start of enrolment on 1.10.2013). Please note, however, that previous subject-related or linguistic knowledge may be necessary. Further courses can be selected from the respective course catalogs of the Institutes and can be taken with the required prior knowledge and in consultation with the lecturer.
For any changes to the time and room planning, please refer to the course catalogs of the Institutes.
1. foreign languages (A1 to C1.2)
Please note that the individual language courses usually comprise 2 SWS. To successfully complete a language module, however, you will need 4 SWS. The individual language courses on offer can be found in the new annotated course directory under the heading Further offers - Supplementary areas.
2. basic skills (overview and consolidation) and free choice module:
You can choose freely from the Studium Generale offerings in both basic skills modules. Please note, however, that your module description stipulates that the courses must come from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. This means that you can choose courses from the following faculties: Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Arts, Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies and Faculty of Business and Economics. Non-faculty-specific courses must correspond to the specializations of the above-mentioned areas.
You can still receive credit for the Buddy Program within the basic competencies. Further information can be found on the Buddy Program website.
Offers of the Faculty SLK
Further courses offered by the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies can be found in the new annotated event directory under the heading Further offers - Supplementary areas.
Offers of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science
AQua offers of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science can be found in the AQua section of the PhF program.
Courses offered by other institutions
In principle, you can use all offers of the Career Service. You can find them on the homepage of the Career Service.
"The Career Service of TU Dresden supports you in acquiring important key qualifications at an early stage and networks you with potential employers." In addition to workshops on applicant training, interviewing skills and key competencies, there are also special offers for the humanities and social sciences.
Please note. The workshops of the Career Service are generally not graded and credited; however, you will always receive a confirmation of participation.
To receive credit for a workshop, please use the Basic Skills modules. Note that the other courses entered in the corresponding modules are graded. Since the entire AQua area is graded, it is not permissible to leave a module ungraded. However, it is possible within a module to have only one course graded and the other not, in order to calculate a final module grade.
The theater of the TU Dresden, die bühne, offers acting courses that can be credited in the AQua area. Further information can be found on the pages of die bühne.
Für das WiSe24-25 noch keine Angebote vorliegend.

3. internship
On the Faculty's homepage you will find corresponding offers in the password-protected area Internship and Job Offers. Please ask the Faculty Student Council for the password. Of course, you can also organize your internship of at least four weeks on your own.
You can download guidelines on how to prepare your report.
Scholarships for internships
Internships are an ideal opportunity to gain an insight into professional practice during your studies. The TUD - Santander Scholarships for Internships program supports students of the humanities and social sciences with a scholarship of 500 euros/month for a three-month internship in a Saxon company. The program is coordinated by the LEONARDO-OFFICE SAXONY.
More information on the pages of the LEONARDO-OFFICE SAXONY
4. stay abroad
You can decide to go abroad during your studies. For organizational matters and questions, please contact your respective academic advisor.
Please note that a stay abroad is compulsory for English and American Studies, Romance Studies and Slavic Studies (12 weeks). If you are studying two of the subjects in combination, you must choose the 2x6 week module and provide proof of two stays abroad. Further information can also be found under frequently asked questions about AQua.
Guidelines for preparing the report are available for download.
Useful information and tips on planning a stay abroad can also be found on the pages of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
