Structure of the Programme and financial support
Study programme
As soon as you have enrolled in one of the participating subject master's programmes, you already fulfil the first prerequisites and can possibly apply for the double master's programme. According to the programme schedule, you will spend the first academic year (starting with the winter semester) at TU Dresden. During this time, you can still submit your application for the double Master's programme; please note the applicable deadlines. After a positive decision by the programme coordinator, you will be nominated at the partner university and asked to submit your application documents again. If you have also been accepted by the University of Trento, then the third and fourth semester (winter and summer semester) at the University of Trento will follow. During your participation in the programme, you must ensure that you are enrolled at both universities at the same time. After completing the final examinations, participants are free to write their final thesis at the host university or to return to the TUD to write their Master's thesis in Dresden. It is important to note that the students participating in the programme have their Master's thesis supervised and assessed by one professor:in each of the University of Trento and the TU Dresden (first supervisor:in home university, second supervisor:in host university).
The programme always ends with the defence (discussione della tesi) of the thesis before an examination board at the Università di Trento, in which the TUD supervisor is cordially invited to participate. After the reports have been sent to the examination offices, the graduation documents are issued: the certificate for the Master of Arts at the Dresden University of Technology and the certificate for the successful Laurea Magistrale at the Università di Trento.
In addition, we want to guarantee students flexibility in terms of course selection. Therefore, each student in the programme will have the opportunity to create an individualised study plan in close cooperation with the faculty representative before starting the programme. In this way, career-oriented focal points can be selected and later deepened. In addition, the study plan can always be flexibly changed and adapted in the course of the programme.
