The double master’s degree and the partnership with UniTrento – a "beacon" of internationalization in the field of humanities and social sciences
With the “beacon” of internationalization, TU Dresden honors outstanding international partnerships, networks and programs. The selected decentralized activities contribute in their breadth to taking TU Dresden one step further on the path to becoming a global university. In September 2021, out of 78 submissions, 22 such “beacon” were identified for the first time by the International Commission and now officially announced. These include the following projects in the field of humanities and social sciences (GSW):
Partnerships
Among the five award-winning partnerships is the GSW partnership with the University of Trento (Italy). The joint double master’s programme of the two universities offers students the opportunity to obtain two master’s degrees in two years and to study in Trento for one year on a scholarship.
On the other hand, the partnership between the GSW division and the University of Usti nad Labem (Czech Republic) was awarded. The partnership has long existed in reciprocal teaching-research seminars, which focus on the challenges of post-socialist societies in the transformation to a strong civic culture, or on opposing processes such as populism, extremism, but also social inequality and the erosion of social cohesion.
More information on other outstanding international programs, partnerships and networks in research and teaching can be found here: https://tu-dresden.de/gsw/internationales

Studies with a special view: Sonia Pytkowska about the double master’s degree Dresden – Trento
Just produced: the video of the double master’s program with the University of Trento. Sonia Pytkowska has completed the double master’s degree Dresden – Trento in 2018. That means she studied one year in Dresden and one year in Trento, Italy. During these two years she not only earned her master’s degree in Dresden, but also a Laurea Magistrale in Trento. In this interview, she talks about the differences between studying in Germany and Italy and gives practical tips for studying in Trento, which she would definitely recommend. The Double Master Dresden – Trento is open to many courses of study in Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies as well as the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

Congratulazioni per il doppio titolo!
Great news: our program participant Tom Weidensdorfer can now call himself “dottore”, because after successfully completing a laurea you are “dottore” or “dotoressa” in Italy. The team of the Doppia Laurea congratulates the graduate on passing the Master’s examination and on successfully defending his Master’s thesis at the partner university in Trento, in accordance with his standards, with a corona (Italian crown, wreath) made of laurel leaves in front of the Faculty of Letters. Auguri Tom!!!
