Presentation of the programme
The Double Master’s programme of the Faculty of Languages, Literature and Cultural Studies has been run on the basis of its own cooperation agreement since 2000 and has been supported by direct DAAD funding since 2009. The programme has undergone a multifaceted development through the integration of subjects from the Faculty of Humanities in addition to the Master’s programmes of the Faculty of SLK. The aim of the coordinators was to offer students the best opportunities to expand their subject knowledge in breadth and depth through the programme's cross-philology, cross-faculty and ultimately cross-university character. The university teachers involved have developed a theory-practice model that allows for different focal points, ranging from philological, linguistic and cultural studies to historical and philosophical analysis. The knowledge acquired from an interdisciplinary and intercultural perspective, expressed in two degrees, takes into account a future and labour market-oriented concern.
The bilateral Master's programme comprises a total of four semesters and offers students the opportunity to obtain two different degrees through one course of study. Currently, this programme is aimed at Master's students of the Faculty of SLK who are enrolled in the Master of European Languages or the Master of Literature and Culture in Social Change. It is also aimed at students of the Faculty of Humanities who wish to complete their Master's degree in "History", "History of Art" or "Philosophy".
