You need a first degree in at least one linguistically oriented field of study with linguistic components. This includes basic linguistic knowledge. In addition, you must have German and English language skills of at least level B2, as well as knowledge of another Romance or Slavic foreign language if you choose the Language Diversity track (Track Sprachenvielfalt).

If you do not have a German Abitur, you must provide proof of German language skills at the level of DSH 2 or TestDaF 4 , unless you have already provided this proof as part of your Bachelor studies.

English proficiency must be at the level that courses in English can be followed. This corresponds approximately to B1 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). For other foreign languages, basic knowledge is sufficient. These will be tested in the aptitude interview.

Yes, since some of the courses are held in English, English proficiency at level B2 or higher of the CEFR is essential for participation in the master's program "European Languages".

Foreign language proficiency will be a topic of the screening interview. The Graduate Adviser and another university teacher will be present for this purpose. A small part of the interview will also be conducted in English and, if necessary, in the foreign language you have indicated.

Yes, for most courses and for all language courses you have to register at OPAL at the beginning of the semester. You will find the link to the respective OPAL course in the course descriptions in the course catalog. 

You also have to register for the modules first and then for the courses in Selma o that you can register for the exam. However, this does not have to be done at the beginning of the semester, but during the exam registration period. You can find more information about exam registration on the pages of the Examination Office GSW.

Registration for exams is only possible during the exam registration period. The period is published for each current semester on the pages of the examination office. You can also deregister from exams during this period. If the period has elapsed, registration or deregistration is only possible with a valid reason, e.g. withdrawal due to illness (medical certificate).

The exam registration is done via Selma. Detailed instructions on how to use Selma can be found here. 

Please note that you always have to register for the modules and courses before you can register for the exam. In addition, you must select your track under "Wahlplichtbereich" and set the language focus.

Yes, during the exam registration period, you can also easily deregister from exams with Selma at any time. After the registration period, withdrawal is only possible for a valid reason, e.g. in case of illness. To do so, please fill out the form for withdrawal in case of illness and attach a doctor's certificate. You can find the forms here.

No, you have the choice in the mobility window between a study-related stay abroad (semester abroad at a foreign university or internship) or an internship in Germany. In any case, please discuss your plans with the academic advisor and the Graduate Adviser.

No, you generally only register for examinations (written examinations, combined papers, etc.). The mere participation in a lecture does not constitute an examination. Therefore, you do not have to register for it.

This applies specifically to the lectures in the Basic Module and the Advanced Module, as well as the lecture in the Supplementary Module Language Theory.

In the track Language Diversity you have to learn two foreign languages, in the track Language Theory you can learn and deepen one language or learn two languages.

You will learn one Romance, one Slavic and / or one Classical language. You can choose between French, Italian and Spanish or Polish, Russian, Czech and Sorbian or Latin and Greek.

Currently these are: Italian, Polish, Russian, Czech and Sorbian. For the other EuroS languages, beginner courses are offered at TUDIAS, which you can take.

If you would like to take French or Spanish courses without prior knowledge, please use the offer of the Teaching Center for Languages and Cultures (LSK) and TUDIAS.

Yes. In order to ensure a smooth recognition of your achievements, please inform your LSK lecturer in the first course that you are taking the course "European Languages".

Yes, registration for LSK/TUDIAS language exams is done through Selma. Please register your chosen courses at the beginning of each semester with the Admissions Office .

The conversion of CPs from LSK/TUDIAS courses is done automatically via Selma. It is important that you take a language exam, i.e. an exam with written and oral part. To do this, inform the lecturer at the beginning of the language course that you are studying the Master EuroS.

The German-Italian Master M.A. (double degree) is offered jointly by the Technische Universität Dresden and the Università degli Studi di Trento and is also open to students enrolled in the Master "European Languages".
Detailed information about the process, funding opportunities and application modalities for the bilateral program can be found on the website of the double master program.

If you would like to complete an internship during your mobility window, it should involve a minimum of 300 hours of work. Please discuss your plans in advance with the student advisor or the Graduate Advisor and send your internship contract to the student advisor. Furthermore, a short report (approx. 5-6 pages) reflecting on the internship must be written. Please refer to this guide for writing an internship report.
