Prof. Caroline Murawski takes over Chair of Biomedical Sensor Technology
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Caroline Murawski has held the Chair of Biomedical Sensor Technology at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering since July 1, 2024.
Murawski is a proven scientist with core research areas in the development of flexible and miniaturized biomedical sensors based on organic semiconductor devices. Her work is highly interdisciplinary and combines electrical engineering and biomedicine with physics and chemistry. In particular, she researches optoelectronic components for the stimulation and detection of neurons using optogenetics and fluorescence imaging. For biological studies, the physicist mainly uses fruit flies as a model organism for genetics and uses them for in vivo and in vitro measurements.
After completing her studies and doctorate in physics at TU Dresden, Murawski went to the University of St Andrews in Scotland as a postdoc. She later became head of a junior research group at the Kurt Schwabe Institute for Measurement and Sensor Technology Meinsberg e.V.. She will now continue and expand her research at the Institute of Solid State Electronics at TU Dresden. In addition to her scientific work, she is particularly looking forward to teaching on the "Biomedical Engineering" degree program and supervising early-career researchers. She would also like to work to make STEM subjects more attractive and support early-career researchers on their career path.
