Mechanical engineering
The topic "Mechanical Engineering" focuses on the use of measurement systems for the research on turbomachinery, on flows in general and on innovative composite materials. This includes the following tasks, which can be processed in combination or individually, according to individual arrangements:
- Construction of laboratory experiments:
- boundary layer flows, free-jet flows , gap flow, turbulent reactive flows (combustion), two-phase flows (spray, injection)
- Fluid-structure interactions (blade vibrations)
- Characterization of novel composite materials
- Characterization of fast-rotating objects (turbomachine) - Application of the measurement system (e.g. optical systems):
- conducting measurement campaigns in our own laboratory and at our cooperation partners
- Data evaluation and visualization (e.g. using Matlab)- Handling of large amounts of data (highly temporally resolved imaging)
- Interpretation of the measured data
The available projects you find on the German site only.
Based on an agreement between the faculties of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, the diploma theses for students in mechanical engineering can be supervised by the Chair of Measurement of Sensor System Technique. Representatives from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering can also be consulted.
