Systems Engineering Lab
While other labs focus on providing encapsulated tasks, the idea of the Systems Engineering lab is to encourage students to actively participate in ongoing research in the Systems Engineering Group.
Finding a topic for a Master Thesis can be a tedious task that requires students to dig deeper into certain subjects. Often 6 months are not enough to familiarize with a certain subject area and deliver high quality research. This lab is meant to help students already diving into a research area or project outside the thesis time frame and enables them to actively participate in the formulation of their Master Thesis topic. The students will solve tasks in a research project with increasing complexity in order to make them aware of open research challenges.
The research areas span data streaming systems, parallel computation, software transactional memory and cloud computing. At the beginning of the lab students will get to choose the area most interesting to them.
In general we prefer if the student takes the SE-lab for 4 SWS.
