Brief description
Before a broad implementation of biomass gasification technology, especially for facilities with small power range, the problem of raw gas cleaning has to be solved. This task will be worked on at the first level with preliminary tests at an existing gasifier and its optimization, and, in the second level, by development of a raw gas filter unit in a test facility that was specially designed for this.
The Dresden University of Technology will undertake the scientific and energetic examinations at both levels as a basis for the design and construction of an innovative raw gas filter unit. This task basically includes theoretic examinations in terms of material and energy balancing, thermochemical equilibrium considerations, as well as admission and evaluation of all potentially relevant process parameters of gas quality at the gasifier.
The KD Ltd.‘s main fields of work are development, production and testing of the filter unit and the test facility.
The implementation is the prerequisite for offering a marketable, modularly as possible constructed gasifier on the basis of proven findings and practical experiences with a power range of < 150 kWel as a unit or in partial components.
Test rigs used / special purchases
- Use of an existing ankur-gasifier and the peripherals including BHKW (40 kWel) near Bamberg for first examinations and optimization of the gasifier, filter unit and, if necessary, of the peripherals
- Construction of a gasifier unit at KD steel by KD steel, including the modified raw gas filter unit and peripherals
- Optimization – further filter types
