Dynamic effects at the interface between solids, liquids and gases determine numerous processes in our everyday life, in nature and in technology. Surfaces of droplets or bubbles can exhibit elasticity, structures form by interaction with flows, effective size scales change, adhesion properties of surfaces can be adjusted.
Figure: Exemplary interfacial phenomena; bubble dynamics (top part) and structure formation processes by membrane formation, flow-driven reaction, and interfacial convection (lower part from left to right)
The group's research goal is to provide detailed insight into interface-driven phenomena in order to understand their effects at the technological scale and ultimately improve processes.
