Silver VDI membership of Prof. Gude

On February 1, 2022, Dr. Olaf Andersen, the Chairman of the Board of the Dresden District Association of the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure e.V. (VDI, Association of German Engineers) and Mrs. Andrea Nickol, regional Office Manager of the VDI Saxony Regional Association, handed over a certificate and a silver badge to Prof. Dr. Maik Gude to honor his 25 years of VDI membership. They took the opportunity to discuss current research works and projects for the near future, and they agreed on a closer cooperation, which, in addition to technical aspects, also includes activities to promote young scientists and to motivate children and youths for science and technology. They see a need to stop the decrease of first-year students in Engineering and, in the long term, to inspire more young people to study in these disciplines again. Prof. Gude then presented a number of flagship projects and the impressive technical capabilities of the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) during a tour of the test halls KAZ, LIZ and PEZ.
