Building bridges: Visit from an EPT delegation from Senegal
After some period of exchange, we are pleased to announce that the Erasmus program KA171 with Senegal, funded at the ILK, is now coming to life.
In the first week of March (from March 3rd to 9th, 2024) a delegation from Senegal will visit the ILK, TU Dresden and Dresden. The delegation consists of Prof. Alassane Diene, Professor in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering and Director of L'École polytechnique de Thiès (EPT), Prof. Mamadou Lamine Lo, Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and responsible for international relations and cooperation at EPT, and Mr. Daouda Gueye, Head of Administration at EPT. A reception at the ILK, a tour of the ILK's technical center, visits to the National Lightweight Engineering Validation Center (LEIV) and the Research Center Carbon Fibers Saxony (RCCF) are planned. The delegation will also tour the main campus of the TU Dresden and meet with representatives of the Graduate Academy and the International Office of the TU Dresden to discuss exchange opportunities at the university level. Further network meetings are planned on renewable energy systems, with the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences and with MID Africa e.V. The program will be rounded off with a city tour of Dresden and a joint dinner.
EPT is particularly interested in student exchange and would like to build on its previous experience with TU Dresden. The areas of (renewable) energy technology and automotive engineering are at the center of interest.
The partnership with EPT also offers great potential for future scientific cooperation between TU Dresden and Senegal. In the current project KA171 of the ILK and EPT it is planned to send Dipl.-Ing. Christian Hild, a graduate of the ILK, to EPT and Senegal for a three-month networking stay, in order to initiate further partnerships for the ILK, primarily together with the association MID-Afrika e.V. MID-Afrika e.V. plans to develop a modular, simple and robust vehicle system (car, minibus, van or truck) for the African market; a project with many overlaps with the research and development work at the ILK.
We are looking forward to the exciting further development of this program!
