Facilities
The Chair of Aircraft Engineering has extensive facilities for conducting experimental investigations. A selection of the equipment available at the Chair of Aircraft Engineering is listed below.
Research aircraft - Cessna 172N

Research aircraft D-EMWF of the TUD Dresden University of Technology
A single-engine Cessna 172 (registration D-EMWF) is available at the Chair of Aircraft Engineering as a research aircraft since May 2023 for research and teaching.
Research aircraft - Diamond DA62 MPP

Research aircraft Diamond DA62 MPP of the TUD Dresden University of Technology
A twin-engine Diamond DA 62 MPP (multi-purpose platform) will be available at the Chair of Aircraft Engineering from Q4 2025 as a technology carrier platform and for testing alternative propulsion systems. The new research aircraft was acquired by the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) and the Institute of Aerospace Engineering (ILR) at TU Dresden as part of a challenging public tendering process.
X-ray microscope

X-ray microscope Zeiss Xradia 520 Versa
The Chair of Aircraft Engineering participates in the use of the Zeiss Xradia 520 Versa (in future 620 Versa) 3D X-ray microscope, located at the Dresden Center for Nanoanalysis. Using the high-resultion imaging method, non-destructive testing of fiber reinforced composites as well as metallic additively manufactured structures is possible.
