A coaxial transmission and conversion of torque and speed with high power density and compact design is the typical requirement for a planetary gear, but also the realization of large ratios, for example in actuators, is part of the task.
The research results achieved in the past have contributed significantly to the elaboration of the VDI guideline 2737 "Calculation of the load capacity of the tooth root in internal toothings with influence of the gear rim". With ongoing research projects, the guideline will continue to be further developed. With the aim of improving load carrying capacity calculations, we also dedicate ourselves to the calculation of thin-walled planet gears. Frequently, the greatest uncertainties in the safety analysis can be found in unsecured load assumptions. Within the framework of the complex load analysis of planetary gears, calculation algorithms have been developed to determine the load sharing between planet gears as well as the load distribution over the tooth face.
