Multi-parametric sensor system for biofilm-monitoring
The aim of the R&D project between the ScioSpec Scientific Instruments GmbH and the Chair of Bioengineering is the development and implementation of a sensor system to online monitor biofilm formation in industrial facilities. The main focus will be laid on a combination of different measurement principles to minimize cross sensitivity or interference.
The ScioSpec Scientific Instruments GmbH is responsible for the design and manufacture of the prototypes.
Tasks of the chair of Bioprocess Engineering include experimental testing of each prototype of the multi-parametric sensor system. Therefore micro-organisms have to be cultivated in a laboratory scale reactor first. Afterwards the biofilm formation can be studied therein with each prototype followed by final tests on an industrial scale.
