ITM Overview
The Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology at the Technical University in Dresden (TU Dresden) is one of the worldwide leading university research facilities in the fields of Textile and Ready-to-Wear Technology. In order to successfully complete various research projects, the ITM is equipped with modern infrastructure, allowing the researchers to rapidly develop innovative technologies and products.
Interdisciplinary research activities are accomplished in the fields of machine design, development of new technology and products as well as material modeling. Research projects are focussed mainly on lightweight engineering, textile-reinforced concrete and medical textiles. In particular, these engineering applications require the development of innovative thread and hybrid yarn constructions, 2D and 3D reinforcment structures, finishes, coatings and functionalisation technologies as well as the corresponding machinery designed and equipped to meet the demands of these high tech branches. CAE cutting technology, ready-made technology for technical textile products, new developments in functional textiles and measuring and simulation technology round out the research spectrum at the ITM.
