European University Association (EUA)
The European University Association (EUA) represents more than 800 universities and national rectors’ conferences in 48 European countries. EUA plays a crucial role in the Bologna Process and in influencing EU policies on higher education, research and innovation. Through continuous interaction with a range of other European and international organizations, EUA ensures that the independent voice of European universities is heard.
EUA provides unrivalled opportunities for members to share best practices by participating in projects, events and other mutual-learning activities involving a wide range of universities. The Association also provides members with unique opportunities to shape European policies and initiatives affecting higher education and research.
EUA supports the worldwide agenda for achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Universities contribute to the goals through research and education in a wide array of disciplines that can potentially contribute to a better future.

EUTOPIA
EUTOPIA is an ambitious alliance of nine like-minded European universities, joining forces to build the university of the future.
EUTOPIA’s long-term mission is to build a unique and daring alliance of transformative and engaged institutions. EUTOPIA students, researchers and staff are currently working together to build a new academic model, reflecting an open and united Europe, respectful of all citizens and the environment. The alliance works together with its associate and global partners to reach its aims. EUTOPIA provides opportunities for students and staff alike, from undergraduate through post-doc, and for researchers, teachers, technical and administrative staff. Efforts are already underway to produce challenge-driven research and teaching, prepare empowered European graduates, champion regional and international involvement, and support diversity, inclusivity and widening citizenship.
The EUTOPIA alliance is a connected and inclusive community. Through objectives such as collaborative research, greater student and teacher mobility, and shared innovations, EUTOPIA seeks to address local and global challenges, ultimately contributing to creating a new model for higher education in Europe. In June 2019, EUTOPIA 2050 was chosen as one of the initial 17 winning projects of the new European Universities Initiative competitive call launched by the European Commission to build a European Higher Education Area. Beyond the initial EUTOPIA 2050 pilot, the alliance continuously generates ambitious projects such as:
- The EUTOPIA PhD co-tutelle program
- The EUTOPIA-SIF (Science & Innovation post-doctoral fellowships program) within the COFUND program of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (H2020)
- The EUTOPIA-TRAIN (Transforming Research and Innovation) project within the Science with and for Society (SwafS) work program H2020

New European Bauhaus initiative (NEB)
The New European Bauhaus initiative (NEB) connects the European Green Deal to our living spaces. It calls on all Europeans to imagine and build together a sustainable and inclusive future that is beautiful for our eyes, minds, and souls.
TU Dresden (TUD) brings to the NEB a broad range of research and teaching activities in the faculties of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Science and Engineering, Business and Economics and in the various central units, together with a network of local (DRESDEN-concept), regional and international partners. The aim is to use the NEB partnership to bring new ideas and share knowledge in the co-creation and implementation phase of the NEB. This is an opportunity to actively shape the initiative with the goal to develop and realize a joint vision of a sustainable and inclusive, aesthetically, intellectually and emotionally attractive future with new ways of living and building.
Specifically TUD plans to realize the following activities:
- Establish a sustainability platform within TUD highlighting ongoing activities under the NEB umbrella of TUD and its regional partners;
- Implement sustainability seminars integrated into the mandatory curriculum of international students;
- Initiate a university-wide lecture series on NEB related topics;
- Create links between existing networks associated with TUD and NEB;
- Mobilize research minds towards the goals of NEB, and promote participation in upcoming NEB activities, seminars, pilot projects and goals.
