Study Opportunities for Refugees
Table of contents
In the Study Information System (SINS) you can find the degree programs offered at TU Dresden and their admission requirements. You can also filter results based on the language of instruction:
Depending on the requirements, the following options can be taken.
1. Prospective students who have not yet started a degree program
On the Application page, you will find comprehensive information about admission requirements and deadlines. When applying to study at TU Dresden, please pay particular attention to the information on the application procedure for international applicants available in German and English.
If only indirect access to studies can be granted due to missing qualifications, international students can prepare for the aptitude assessment test at TUDIAS Preparatory College. For refugees and displaced persons, this program is free of charge thanks to Integra funding from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
2. Students who have started but not yet completed their studies at an officially recognized institution of higher education
Students who meet all the admission requirements can apply to study in a more advanced semester, as stated in the case above, plus they can have their previous academic achievements credited via a crediting procedure.
3. Exchange Students
If you have already studied in Ukraine for a few semesters and have German or English language skills at least at the B1 level, you can apply as a freemover to the exchange program. This flexible option allows you to be enrolled as a student at TU Dresden for one to two semesters without completing a degree.
Please find further information here on options for applying as a freemover.
4. Auditing courses (Gasthörerschaft / guest students)
At TU Dresden you may audit courses without having to apply for a degree program. All you need to do is submit an application in which you provide information about the desired courses. Together with your application, you can also request a login for the use of TU Dresden's IT resources.
You can also audit courses while attending an intensive German course, including courses that prepare you for your studies. For refugees, this status as a "guest student" is free of charge.
Further information can be found under "How can asylum seekers apply to become a guest student?" on the guest students page.
5. Scholarships
Their are several options for obtaining financial support for your studies at TU Dresden. An overview can be found here.
The Deutschlandstipendium also provides special scholarships for refugees from Ukraine. Please view this document for more information on the scholarship and the application procedure.
