Academic Exchange
TU Dresden maintains many official agreements with other international education institutions. Apart from that there are also specific cooperation schemes and funding programmes in which TU Dresden participates together with its partners and that are supported or administered by the International Office of TU Dresden.
The Franco-German University (DFH-UFA) consists of a group of affiliated member universities from both France and Germany. The university is an international institution and was established by means of an intergovernmental agreement in. The Franco-German University aims to reinforce cooperation between France and Germany with regard to university education and research. It therefore promotes the relations and the exchange between French and German universities, in particular binational study programmes and joint activities in research. TU Dresden greatly benefits from DFH-UFA’s funding opportunities.
One fundamental task of the DFH-UFA is the initiation and financing of binational study programmes where graduates are awarded a German and a French graduation degree. The TU Dresden has signed respective agreements for the following courses of study with French partner institutions.
- Architecture - ENSA Straßburg
- Civil Engineering - ESTP Paris und INSA Straßburg
- Chemistry - École européenne de Chimie, Polymères et Matériaux (Straßburg) und École nationale supérieure de chimie de Rennes
- Mechanical Engineering - Ensam Metz
- Computer Sciences - INSA Rennes
- Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Communication System Engineering, Regenerative Energysystems - Groupe des Ecoles Centrales
- Business Adminsitration - Ecole de Management (EM) de Strasbourg
Each semester all participating students (TUD and from the partner universities) are entitled to take part in special language courses at TUD, i.e. preparatory French courses for TUD students and accompanying German courses for students from the French partner institutions.
Further funding areas are multifaceted, e.g., measures to support co-operation in doctoral studies, an example is TU Dresden’s Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering’s project with Université de Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense.
