AG3D - 3D digitization of scientific objects
AG3D - 3D digitization of scientific objects
When it comes to information on the 3D digitization of objects, it is easy to find commercial service providers and their offers. It is much more difficult to track down stakeholders who digitize, want to digitize or have already digitized objects from scientific collections in 3D - although many institutions are already digitizing 3D in a science-oriented manner and researching and refining the corresponding methods.
To remedy this and create a place for the exchange of experience and knowledge transfer, a number of young scientists from TUD and other universities jointly founded AG3D in November 2020. Among them is Robert Päßler. He has been working with TU Dresden's collection of mathematical models since 2015 and creates precise digital copies of selected models, which are made available online in DAMM (Digital Archive of Mathematical Models).
The AG3D meets monthly - virtually for the time being. It is an open forum with a current focus on the exchange of information and experience in the form of "workshop reports" on successfully completed projects. These are also available as videos, as well as detailed minutes of the meetings. The AG3D website also provides an open calendar of events. Further activities are being planned. For example, strategies will be developed in smaller sub-working groups on key topics and experts will be invited to give presentations.
