Collection of Transport Science and Collection of the Railway Operation Laboratory
The approximately 40 devices in the Collection of Transport Science came primarily from the University of Transportation (founded in 1952), which, in the wake of a reorganisation, was incorporated into the TU Dresden as its own faculty. The devices include some car models, measuring instruments, rail network maps and an example of the first ticket machine from the 1980s.
The Railway Operation Laboratory is a railway test facility for the mapping of operational and safety processes as well as traffic management. It is used for training and research for operational and safety engineering tasks. It is mainly used in the context of practical lessons and research in the Transport Engineering academic program. The collection includes track systems, interlocking and block technology, control technology, model railway vehicles as well as a model railway at a scale of 1:87.
