Both microwaves (Discover and MDS2100) have a power of 300 W and the standard setup can be used for 10 ml glass tubes uo to a pressure of 17 bar. They are used to heat a reaction by microwave irradiation. The advantage over a conventional oil-/ water bath is a constant uptake of heat by the reaction medium. Furthermore, the sealed glass tubes allow for heating of the reaction above the boiling point of the used solvent.
