The Waters Acquity UPLC ( Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography) is a state of the art analytic liquid chromatography system with quaternary solvent pump. The autosampler is temperature controlled and can hold up to 100 samples simultaneously. Sample separation is carried out on sub-2‑µm particle columns at up to 1000 bar backpressure. The system is equipped with two column heaters, one for two columns up to 15 cm in length and one for longer columns. Analytes are detected via a photo diode array detector, recording UV/Vis data between 200-800 nm and a tandem quadrupole mass spectrometer.
The mass spectrometer (tandem quadrupole) can record MS and MS/MS between 2 and 2000 Da with minimal dwell time of 5 ms. With this equipment it is possible to use an electrospary ionization (ESI) and an atmospheric-pressure chemical ionization, respectively. Direct injection into the MS allows for the sample measurement independent of the UPLC.
