Software for Students

Apart from the software licenses, which are obtainable for students at subsidized conditions (see an overview of the ZIH), the following offers are of particular interest for the students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry:

Microsoft Office

There is a possibility of a state agreement with Microsoft, to use the “Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus” during the study period for free. For this purpose the registration at CampusSachsen is necessary. The essential registration steps are explained on this page.
However, it is necessary to authenticate via this link regularly with the ZIH login, to prove the usage authorization. This means it is no longer available after exmatriculation.

Origin

Our faculty participates in the financing of the Origin campus contract. The free-of-charge usage of the software on the private student computers is included. The activation and connection occur for one year at a time, and only the latest version can be activated! Attention, the new versions generally appear at the beginning of December, but the activation key is usually available with a delay!
The Software itself can be downloaded on the pages of OriginLab, information on the activation can be obtained in the computer pool from the corresponding supervisors. They have also provided an Origin installation guide.

ChemOffice

A number of the chairs of the faculty participate in the financing of the rental license of ChemOffice. With the new conclusion of the contract in 2021, the conditions have unfortunately changed in such a way that licenses for private computers can no longer be issued. The PC pools remain equipped with ChemOffice so that the software can be used there.
