Seminar: Sustainability in High-Energy Physics -- What we can do! (Ben Brüers)
01069 Dresden
The anthropogenic emission of greenhouse gases has led to an increase of the average temperature on planet earth. Yet, the emissions today are as high as never before. Without large reductions, the average temperature will continue to increase with potentially drastic consequences for the habitability of certain parts of the planet. High-energy physics also emits greenhouse gases and thereby contributes to global warming. The different sources of greenhouse gas emission of high-energy physics will be presented in the talk. What we can do to reduce the footprint will be discussed. Finally, the talk will close by suggesting new routes on how we may conduct our research in a climate-friendly way in the future.
