The Quantum Design group
Welcome to the website of the Quantum Design group. In our research, we are interested in the constructive creation and control of special quantum states. Since 2017 we have been funded by the Emmy Noether programme of the Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft.
The group is headed by Dr. Tobias Meng, who was awarded the Heinz-Maier Leibnitz Prize 2022 in recognition of his scientific achievements (Germany's most important award for early career scientists). The group is part of the Collaborative Research Center CRC 1143 and of the Würzburg-Dresden Cluster of Excellence ct.qmat.
You want to get an impression of what our workdays are like, and meet the people behind the science? Then watch our video -> here <-!
Fore more details, also have a look at Tobias' talk on the social behavior of electrons in the TV show Campus talks (ARD alpha).
- Open positions for postdocs and PhD students in our group: please contact Tobias Meng.
- 03/2022: Tobias Meng is awarded the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize 2022 for his research! The press release can be found here, the laudatory speech by Prof. Dr. Holger Gies here (in German).
- 05/2021: Press release for our Nature Communications article "Origin of the quasi-quantized Hall effect in ZrTe5" (link to the original article: click here)
- 04/2021: We are very happy that our group could contribute to TU Dresden's public outreach campaign with an interview in the newspaper Sächsischen Zeitung. Our cluster of excellence ct.qmat accompanies this campaign with a video showcasing our every day life. Thanks so much for this brilliant little peak into our world!
