"Together for Democracy" - Faculty of Psychology displays banner!
Under the motto "Together for Democracy", a parade took place on 25 May 2024 to the Altmarkt, where the Festival of Democracy was organised by DRESDEN-concept e. V. and the #WOD Weltoffenes Dresden alliance.
The TUD parade started at Fritz-Förster-Platz. After an inspiring speech by Prorector Prof. Dr Roswitha Böhm, the parade marched towards Altmarkt. There, the TUD parade met with three other parades with a total of 2,500 participants to merge for a colourful and diverse celebration of democracy. In addition to speeches and musical contributions (including from Bosse), there were a number of information pavilions. Representatives of the Open Science Initiative (Dr Christoph Scheffel, Dr Josephine Zerna, Dr Michael Höfler) and student representatives (Debora Buch and Robert Ritter) from the Faculty of Psychology provided information on reliable and open science.
On the day before the European elections, professors and student representatives from the Faculty of Psychology also took part in the demonstration with the slogan "Stop right-wing extremism - defend democracy". According to the organisers, around 8,000 people took to the streets in Dresden to set an example against radicalisation and hate speech.
We will not stop to openly demonstrate our commitment to democracy - because it is up to all of us to help ensure that "Never again is now!" is fulfilled.
