Services offered by the faculties
The School of Science offers staff and students a wide range of consultations, advice and services in addition to those provided by the Academic Affairs and Examination Offices. The following section provides a summary overview of the service areas covered by the different function holders and a discipline-specific list of the relevant contact persons.

Within in the scope of quality management for studies and teaching, respectively one teacher and one student are appointed as programme coordinators for each degree programme. They are responsible for the following activities: |

♦ | quality assurance and quality development of the respective degree programme | |
♦ | development of subject-specific quality goals for the respective degree programme | |
♦ | Significantly involved in the evaluation of the degree programme | |
♦ | implementation of own suggestions for improvement | |
♦ | counselling of students and teachers on questions and problems concerning the degree programme | |
♦ | acceptance and processing of complaints | |
♦ | close cooperation with the Dean of Studies and the Faculty Student's Council | |
♦ | consulting membership at the Commission of Studies | |

For each degree programme, the Faculty Council in consultation with the Faculty Students' Council orders a Commission of Studies, which holds the following responsibilites: |

♦ | Organisation of evaluations in cooperation with the student body (Fachschaft) | |

The Faculty Students' Council (FSR) is a body of student representatives that offers counselling and service "from students to students". Their activities are diversified: |

An intensive assistance, especially at the beginning of your studies, can considerably contribute to your study success. By the introduction of the "buddy-system", the TU Dresden likes to offer help and support especially for new students in their first year at university. Students of advanced semesters function as contact persons for all questions concerning studies and simultaneously serve as mentors for student research groups. | ||
This support offer is not only of advantage for new students, but also for the student mentors, as they serve as a link to teachers and professors and are introduced step by step in the world of science and research. | ||

Die Formate der „Orientierungsplattform Forschung & Praxis“ (OFP) bieten Studierenden Einblicke in potenzielle Tätigkeitsfelder in Unternehmen und Forschungseinrichtungen. Das Spektrum der Angebote reicht von Workshops über Exkursionen und Praxisprojektwochen bis hin zu großen Vortragsveranstaltungen. Die Teilnahme lohnt sich doppelt: Studierende sammeln nicht nur praktische Erfahrungen, sondern können für viele OFP-Veranstaltungen auch Leistungspunkte (z.B. im Rahmen der AQUA) erwerben. Die OFP ist Teil des „Studienerfolgsleitsystems“ der TU Dresden.
