Admission requirements
• To be admitted to the degree program, candidates must have completed a first recognized vocational university degree acquired in Germany or a qualification from an officially recognized vocational academy in Educational Sciences or a related degree program.University degree in education or a related discipline
• Proof of special aptitude in accordance with the Aptitude Assessment Regulations
Aptitude is considered to have been demonstrated if two academic achievements in two of the four areas relevant to the degree program:
1. Empirical research methods,
2. Organizational development,
3. Adult education and continuing education, and
4. Lifelong learning and educational systems
have been graded at least “good.”
Alternatively, aptitude is also considered to be demonstrated if the applicant can provide proof of at least two years of professional experience in at least one of the four areas listed above, as well as relevant continuing education totaling at least 5 ECTS credits or 125 working hours, the content and level of which can be attributed to at least one of the aforementioned areas.
If aptitude cannot be determined from the documents, an aptitude interview shall be conducted.
Aptitude assessment procedure
The participation in an aptitude assessment or selection procedure is a prerequisite for enrollment in this degree program. Please note that the deadline for submitting an application may be earlier than the application deadlines for the degree program (see above under application deadlines). International applicants and German applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification are kindly advised to read the requirements for German-language courses.
Notes on the application process
If, at the time of application, proof of the first degree qualifying the applicant for a profession is not yet available, the application will be considered under the precondition that 80% of the credit points attainable for the degree have already been achieved based on completed module examinations or the final thesis and the colloquium (if applicable). A certification from the awarding institute of higher education (examination office) serves as proof of the above-mentioned academic achievements. General information about the degree program
The research-oriented master's degree program qualifies students for professional activities in
• adult and continuing education (vocational, corporate, and general public welfare) as well as
• organizational development (preferably in continuing education institutions and departments).
The students will be able to
• apply their acquired expertise to complex practical requirements,
• critically analyze and develop their own concepts and models from continuing education research and organizational development,
• work empirically in order to generate new knowledge in the field of continuing education research and organizational development as well as
• successfully undertake management tasks in the field of education.
Graduates of this Master’s degree program fulfill the requirements for pursuing a doctorate.
Study contents
The Master’s degree program is divided into modules. The degree program comprises ten modules, including a professional practice module (internship) as well as in addition the Master’s thesis and defense, totaling 120 credit points. The degree program comprises the following modules

A mobility window in the third semester allows students to study abroad.
Particular value is placed on the ability to impart key skills and knowledge. This includes knowledge of scientific methods, presentation techniques, the application of blended learning methods, the skills needed to get started in a career and management skills.
Particularities
The Master's degree program in “Continuing Education and Organizational Development” at TU Dresden provides a unique combination of theory and practice-oriented learning, including innovative teaching formats such as peer-to-peer teaching, field trips and a mobility window in the third semester for international study opportunities. Students acquire comprehensive qualifications in areas such as adult education, education management, and organizational development.
