Admission requirements
— University degree in education or a related discipline
— Proof of particular aptitude is provided if one examined assessment in at least two of the following four areas has been graded “good” or above:
— Empirical Research Methods
— Organizational Development
— Adult Education/Continuing Education
— Lifelong Learning and Educational Trajectories
— If proof of aptitude cannot be ascertained with these documents, there will be an assessment interview.
Aptitude assessment procedure
The participation in an aptitude assessment or selection procedure is a prerequisite for enrollment in this degree program. Please note that the deadline for submitting an application may be earlier than the application deadlines for the degree program (see above under application deadlines). International applicants and German applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification are kindly advised to read the requirements for German-language courses.
Notes on the application process
If, at the time of application, proof of the first degree qualifying the applicant for a profession is not yet available, the application will be considered under the precondition that 80% of the credit points attainable for the degree have already been achieved based on completed module examinations or the final thesis and the colloquium (if applicable). A certification from the awarding institute of higher education (examination office) serves as proof of the above-mentioned academic achievements. General information about the degree program
The research-oriented Master’s degree program qualifies graduates for professions in:
— Continuing education research
— Organizational development (particularly in the area of continuing education)
The students will be able to
— apply their acquired expertise to complex scenarios,
— critically analyze and develop their own concepts and models from continuing education research and organizational development,
— work empirically in order to generate new knowledge in the field of continuing education research and organizational development and
— successfully undertake management tasks in the field of education.
Graduates of this Master’s degree program fulfill the requirements for pursuing a doctorate.
Study contents
The Master’s degree program is divided into modules. The degree program comprises nine modules, including a professional practice module (internship) as well as the Master’s thesis and defense, totaling 120 credit points. This degree program comprises the following modules

— Education Systems and Educational Institutions,
— Teaching and Learning in Continuing Education,
— Life-Long Learning and Educational Trajectories,

— Professional Practice (Internship).
Particular value is placed on the ability to impart key skills and knowledge. This includes knowledge of scientific methods, presentation techniques, the application of blended learning, the skills needed to get started in a career and management skills (leadership and negotiation).
