Admission requirements
To be admitted to the degree program, applicants must have completed a general university entrance qualification (Abitur) or a comparable university entrance qualification.
German language requirements
International applicants and German applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification are kindly advised to read the requirements for German-language courses.
Information regarding Studienkolleg
Applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification that does not grant them direct access to university education in Germany pursuant to the qualification comparability regulations of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs must attend a Preparatory College (Studienkolleg) prior to studying. You can acquire the subject-specific university entrance qualification here. Further information can be found on the website of the Preparatory College (Studienkolleg).

T-course
General information about the degree program
The course of study is divided into a basic study period of three semesters and a main study period of seven semesters including a research oriented project thesis and diploma thesis.
During the first three semesters, basic units in engineering in the following areas will be taught:
- building design,
- building physics,
- mathematics and computing in construction,
- mechanics and strength of materials,
- construction materials,
- geodesy,
- projective geometry,
- environmental protection within civil engineering,
- experimental physics and
- building chemistry.
The following four semesters include courses in:
- mathematics and computing in construction,
- structural analysis,
- reinforced concrete construction and building with prestressed concrete,
- steel-girder construction and timber construction,
- geoengineering,
- municipal engineering and traffic,
- construction management,
- hydraulics of structures, dams and hydropower,
- river engineering, inland navigational engineering, and hydro science.
For the remaining three semesters the student needs to choose one of six possible areas of specialisation, among them:
- constructive civil engineering (structural analysis, supporting structures, geoengineering),
- urban and road construction (urban and traffic planning, railway construction, municipal engineering),
- construction site management and water engineering (e.g., community water resources).
The TU Dresden does also offer a 6-year "Civil Engineering" Bachelor programme, which is only available through distance learning. Students are thus offered the chance to combine profession and education.
Furthermore, students are able to individually adjust the order of the programme according to their previous knowledge. There is a tuition fee.
